Ilysia Van Deren currently lives and works in Seattle, WA. She attended University of Washington and graduated in 2012 with a BFA in Photomedia. Through her work, she investigates frequently encountered paradoxes: strength and vulnerability, softness and hardness, dark and light. Often working with delicate or precious materials, she explores understanding, accepting and embracing the dualities of the everyday. She enjoys the richness found in contradictions.
